Cheese Stuffed, Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs Recipe
Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground pork sausage
- 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 8 slices bacon
- House of Q House Rub
- House of Q Rockin’ Red BBQ Sauce
Instructions
Preheat your Yoder Smokers YS640 to 350ºF. Divide the sausage into 8 (1/4 lb) balls. Press each ball in a rectangle shape to match the length of the cheese stick. Wrap the sausage around the cheese. Season with House of Q House Rub. Wrap the sausage with a slice of bacon.
Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145ºF. Brush on the House of Q Rockin’ Red BBQ Sauce and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF.
This is not your typical tailgate food. It’s another great recipe from our friend BBQ Brian Misko’s book, Grilling with House of Q. What you’re getting is basically a single serving BBQ fatty. It’s hot dog shape, and the fact it can be assembled ahead of time and held cold make it a great tailgating option.
