FireBoard Extreme Probe Pack — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the FireBoard Extreme Probe Pack?
The Extreme Probe Pack is an accessory kit that adds additional temperature probes (food + ambient) to your FireBoard setup, allowing you to monitor more channels simultaneously.
What probes are included in the pack?
• 4 × SF311T food probes (100 K thermistor)
• 1 × SANT311T ambient (non-threaded) probe
• 1 × GC311 grill clip (to secure the ambient probe)
What are the technical specs (temperature range, probe dimensions)?
• Probe temperature range: 0 to 572 °F (–18 to 300 °C) for these thermistor probes
• SF311T: 6 ft cable, 5 in straight probe + 90° bend, 4 mm diameter
• SANT311T: 6 ft cable, ~2¼ in ambient probe length, 4 mm diameter
How do I use the Extreme Probe Pack with my FireBoard?
1. Plug the additional SF311T probes into the extra probe ports on your FireBoard controller.
2. Use the GC311 clip to mount the ambient (SANT311T) probe between grill grates or in your cooking chamber.
3. In the FireBoard app or web interface, configure each probe’s type (food / ambient) and assign target temperatures, alerts, etc.
4. Mix and match—these probes are interchangeable, so you can use any combination of food or ambient with existing probes.
What are the advantages and potential limitations?
Advantages:
• Expand your monitoring capacity (more meats, zones, ambient)
• Uses the same thermistor technology as standard FireBoard probes
• Includes a grill clip for secure ambient placement
• Often priced with “one free probe” compared to buying individually
Limitations / considerations:
• Thermistor probes are accurate within their designed range—if pushed beyond their limits, accuracy may degrade
• The cable routing and probe placements must avoid extreme heat, sharp bends, or abrasion
• Ambient probe placement may influence readings depending on local airflow or hot spots
• Probes are consumables over time—they can wear out, so keeping spares is wise
