How to Make Balsamic Reduction

  •

A balsamic reduction is a simple, yet transformative ingredient made by simmering balsamic vinegar in a pan until it thickens and some of the liquid evaporates. The process of reducing the vinegar intensifies its flavor, turning it into a rich, syrupy glaze that can enhance a wide variety of dishes. The result is a sweet, concentrated version of balsamic vinegar that’s perfect for drizzling over everything from salads to roasted vegetables, meats, or even desserts. It’s a quick, easy way to add depth and elegance to your meals—and Chef Tom is going to show you how to make it!

Balsamic Reduction

Start with 1 cup Texas Olive Ranch Balsamic Vinegar. Place the balsamic in a lodge 10" steel skillet. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Great ways to use it

  • Drizzle over grilled steaks, pork chops, or chicken right before serving.
  • Finish roasted vegetables like brussels sprouts, carrots, or asparagus.
  • Add a swipe on the plate under grilled shrimp or salmon for a restaurant-style presentation.
  • Brighten up salads, especially anything with tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, or berries.

This reduction also shines in sandwiches. Try it in our Balsamic Blackberry Brie Grilled Cheese for a sweet-savory flavor that’s perfect for the grill.

 Storage tips
  • Let the reduction cool completely.
  • Transfer it to a small jar or squeeze bottle with a lid.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 weeks.
  • If it thickens too much in the fridge, set the container in a cup of warm water or let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes and stir.

Once you’ve made a batch, you’ll find yourself reaching for it all the time! A simple cup of balsamic vinegar turns into a flavor booster you can keep on hand to finish just about any grilled or roasted dish.
