Yoder Smokers Probe Port — New Style — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Yoder Smokers Probe Port — New Style?
This is a stainless steel probe port designed to be installed into the body of Yoder pellet grills (models built after 2016). It allows you to run one or two temperature probe wires into the cooking chamber without going under the door or through the stack.
Why use a probe port?
Using a probe port maintains your grill’s thermal seal, minimizing heat loss compared to routing probe wires under the door or lid. It also offers a more secure, sealed installation point for probes.
Which grills or years is this version compatible with?
This “New Style” probe port was introduced in late 2016. It’s intended for Yoder pellet grills made after that date.
How big is the cutout and how is it installed?
The required hole diameter is **1 1/8" (1.125")**, not 1¼". You make a cutout in the smoker wall, mount the port pieces through the opening, and secure with a nut or fastener.
On the Yoder community forum, Yoder’s admin recommends using a step drill bit for installing the port through the steel wall.
How many probes can it accommodate?
The port is designed to fit **two standard braided probes**. Be aware that “Pro-Probe” style probes (with a thicker transition area) may not fit or pass through easily.
