Ooni Karu 12 Gas Burner — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ooni Karu 12 Gas Burner?
The Ooni Karu 12 Gas Burner is a stainless steel attachment that converts your Ooni Karu 12 (and compatible models) into a gas-powered oven. It mounts to the back of the oven and lets you cook with propane instead of wood or charcoal.
What comes in the box and what fuels does it support?
The burner kit includes the gas burner unit, a 28 mbar (11 WC) regulator, gas hose, two 10 mm screws, an Allen key, an extendable match holder, and instructions.
It is designed to run **propane (bottled gas)** only (not natural gas).
How hot can it get and how quickly does it heat the oven?
  The burner can heat the Karu 12 to **≈ 850 °F (≈ 454 °C)** in about 25 minutes.
It includes a **low-power valve** so you can cook at gentler, lower temperatures too.
How do I install and use it?
First, remove the rear access panel or install point on the Karu 12. Then attach the gas burner securely to the back of the oven using the supplied screws and hardware. Connect the regulator and hose to your propane tank. Ignite and adjust using the control dial and low/high settings.
Note: when using with Karu 12, the oven **door must remain off** and the **chimney must be installed** while the gas burner is in use.
What are the benefits and limitations?

    Benefits:
    • Gas offers cleaner, more consistent heat control compared to wood or charcoal.
    • The low-power setting expands your cooking flexibility for slower bakes or more delicate foods.
    • The burner is serviceable (parts can be replaced or maintained) for easier long-term use.

    Limitations / cautions:
    • It only works with **propane**, not natural gas.
    • For the Karu 12, you must use it **without the oven door** and with the chimney attached.
    • The burner adds weight and can alter the oven’s balance or thermal mass somewhat. Use care during handling.
    • Avoid thermal shock and make sure all gas connections are secure to prevent leaks.
