Fill the base or weight containers with sand up to the indicated fill line (approximately 400 lb capacity), attach the umbrella’s lower hub to the base with the included hardware, and ensure all bolts are tight. Always close the umbrella during high winds. For rolling versions, engage the foot pedal to lock the wheels securely.

Should I choose this base instead of a standard 50 lb base?

Yes—this base is specifically designed for large 13-foot cantilever umbrellas, providing the necessary ballast and footprint for stability. Smaller 50 lb bases are intended for table or smaller market umbrellas and will not safely support AKZ13-class umbrellas.
