SCANDINAVIAN FARMHOUSES

L-SHAPED OUTDOOR KITCHEN

WHERE GREAT MEMORIES START

Our clients started with an uncovered cement patio and converted it into a welcoming hub for family and friends. This open and inviting L-shaped outdoor kitchen and bar features warm, natural elements, with muted tones and blend of textures that are hallmarks of Scandinavian style. The bright pop of red in the Kamado Joe ceramic grill is highlighted by the white stacked-stone facing, the new rough-hewn cedar pergola, the warm gray travertine floor and unfinished cedar cabinet. Evergreens along one end create a screen for privacy while the open views over the kitchen island keep the kids’ play equipment in sight.

Great memories start with great food, and great outdoor kitchens start with the right cookers. This outdoor grill station is anchored by a Yoder Smokers YS640s pellet grill for grilling, baking, roasting and smoking, and a Kamado Joe ceramic grill for over-the-fire charcoal cooking. Having two cookers give options in cooking styles and provide extra cooking space when feeding a crowd. In addition to the cookers, an outdoor sink makes food prep and cleanup easy, and a trash rollout keeps the space tidy. The dry pantry keeps barbecue tools, platters, paper towels and seasonings close at hand, and protects the contents from bugs, dust and water.

Across from the outdoor grill station is a bar island that doubles as a serving station. It includes a stainless steel refrigerator, an undercounter ice bin and an additional dry pantry. Guests can relax at the bar, enjoy a beverage, and eat their meal while chatting with the host.

The homeowners had a large, uncovered cement patio with full sun exposure that became too hot to use for most of the day. They wanted a functional, comfortable space to gather, cook and entertain. They also needed to make their space more private. The All Things Barbecue design team worked with the family to create a space that’s a joy to use by adding a pergola for shade, an evergreen hedge for privacy, and an outdoor kitchen and bar to relax and enjoy time with friends and family.
