SMOKE-FREE DESIGN, NO VENT HOOD
This backyard came with a big remodel already underway and one clear priority. Keep the smoke out of the living area. Our team split the space into a cooking wall and a separate bar, then finished it all in sleek Naturekast cabinetry for a look that matches the rest of the newly remodeled home.

The homeowners were already deep into a full backyard and patio remodel when this kitchen came together, and their biggest ask was simple: don't let smoke drift into the seating area. Our solution was to move the cookers onto an outer wall of their own, and build a separate bar and serving area with a TV above it into the main gathering space. That layout let the family skip a vent hood entirely, since the cookers were never sharing air with the space where people sit.
Without a vent hood, keeping the wall behind the grills clean took some extra thought so we ran a full tile wall behind the cookers, giving them a surface that wipes down easily instead of staining over time. The kitchen was drawn directly into the architect's plans for the backyard, and the homeowners already knew they wanted a pellet grill and a griddle, which shaped the rest of the layout from there.

The cabinetry is where this kitchen really sets itself apart. Working with Naturekast's Euro line high-pressure laminate cabinets built to hold up outdoors gave the space a cleaner, more modern look than a typical stainless steel build. The homeowners picked their finish, Balkans Bleached Walnut, alongside their designer, and the slab-front doors and drawers tie the backyard directly to the interior of the house, which was being remodeled at the same time. For cooking, a Yoder Smokers YS640s Built-In pellet grill and a Fusion griddle give them a genuinely wide range of ways to cook.
The homeowners are thrilled with how it turned out. There's plenty of room to gather around the TV for game days and movie nights, and between the pellet grill and the griddle, they've got no shortage of ways to cook for a crowd.
